The Edostar teachers lament over the unpaid stipend of some of their colleagues and deduction of stipend by the Edo State government.
In 2020 the Edo State government through the State Universal Basic Education open a vacancy of teaching job called Edostar fellow. And he said this job will be on contract basis and it will last for three years Before considering absorbing into the civil service in full due to thier performance. After almost two years of processes the program finally kick off 1st of March 2022. And it was stated in the letter of contract of appointments that the government will begin payment in six months and all arrears will be pay in full. On the 25th of August 2022 the Edo State government paid one Month out of the six months and some certain figures was deducted from the stipend. Edostar teacher lamented over the one salary and threatened not to resume September 12th if the government could not pay all the arrears as promised earlier.
