2023 Election: Edo PDP state chairman lose hundreds of supporters to APC
Ahead of 2023 general elections, erstwhile leader of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in ward 05, Esan South East LGA, Mr Lucky Inegbenehi and hundreds of PDP members who are staunch supporters of PDP state chairman, Mr Tony Aziegbemi, have decamped to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in a ceremony on Saturday, which took place in Emu.
The defectors who were former members of PDP in the ward of the Edo state PDP chairman, Mr Tony Aziegbemi, said that, they decide to join the APC because of the calibre of candidates the party has carefully elected through a democratic, peaceful and cordial primary election.
In his address, the leader of the former PDP members, Mr Lucky E. Inegbenehi said that APC choices of Monday Okpebholo (aka) Akpakomiza, Prince Odi Okojie and Elvis Uwadiale as the party's candidates for Senate, House of Reps and House of Assembly respectively, is one of the best thing that have happened to Esanland in the recent political history.
He said "APC demonstrated internal democracy during its primaries wherein, the elected young, vibrant, patriotic illustrious Esan sons through a democratic process that was free from thuggery and any form of rancor.
"These candidates are fresh breath that can be entrusted with public office for the benefit of Esan people, and with good political antecedents, unlike the PDP that is now a house of commotion, due to the inordinate quest of Senator Clifford Ordia and Arc. Mike Onolememe who occupied public office currently and in the past respectively, with legacies of decay infrastructure and poverty bequeathed on Esan people.
"I want to join the man, popularly called, Akpakomiza, Prince Odi and Hon Elvis to move Esan South East LGA and the entire Esanland forward. They are young and capable hands with patriotic spirit, I therefore call upon on every Esan sons and daughters to join us in this mission to birth a new Esanland," he said
Speaking while receiving the new members, the APC chairman in Esan North East local government, Mr Godday Obanoike, expressed confidence in the victory of the party and assured them of justice, fairness and equity amongst members of the APC, and called on others who are yet to join to do so.
The candidates of the APC led by Monday Okpebholo (aka) Akpakomiza while welcoming the new members said, "I'm happy to receive you all into our family. Your decision is a patriotic one and by the grace of God, together, we'll birth Esanland of our dreams."
In addition, Prince Odi Okojie congratulated the new members for taking courageous decision to join the movement of building a better and prosperous Esanland.
